AffiloBlueprint Day 6:
Finishing Theme and Creating Animated GIF
May 11th 2009 08:50 pm
Well, I poked around some more and figured out how to change the sidebar of the Wordpress theme to show posts instead of pages.
So now I have 2 posts live; my homepage and one other.
I also created an animated GIF to use on the individual article pages. Mark’s sample was just a 250 x 250 box with a background and 3 frames of text on top.
I have ImageReady, but when I created a simple GIF like this, it was 80k. The one on his sample site is only 49K.
So I did this: First I created each individual gif in Photoshop where I could trim down the colors. Each gif was only 15k. Then instead of using ImageReady, I used a free tool Mark told us about: Unfreez.
All it does it make animated gifs when you drag individual gifs to it. It is very basic; you can set the duration between each frame for the entire gif, but you can’t set a different duration between 1 and 2 than between 2 and 3, for instance.
But for my purposes it worked great. My animated gif is 51k.
